Improving Patient Adherence to Treatment - Concurrent Workshop
Saturday, 09 June 2012 Start 4:30pm Duration: 60mins Monet

Poor adherence to treatment is significant problem for the effective delivery of health care, especially in the management of chronic diseases. In fact, it has been suggested that effective adherence interventions may have a far greater impact on the health of the population than any improvement in specific medical treatments.

This workshop will provide an overview of medication adherence, including definition and measurement. The workshop will consider what is known about the factors affecting medication adherence. Intervention strategies to improve adherence will be discussed, including the presentation of a personalised text messaging programme designed to improve adherence to asthma preventer medication.
